Metro 2033 Author Added to Russia's Wanted List

Russia not only invades its neighbor Ukraine but also imposes harsh sanctions on its citizens. Metro 2033 writer Dmitry Glukhovsky, who called for an end to the war, was added to the Russian government’s wanted list.

Dmitry Glukhovsky, the author of the Metro novel series and thus the father of Metro 2033, Metro: Last Light, and Metro Exodus, developed by 4A Games, has become a wanted person in his own country. After criticizing the invasion of Ukraine on his Instagram account in March, Glukhovsky announced that he was accused of discrediting the Russian military. “I am ready to state again what I have said before: End the war!” Glukhovsky said.

Russia Declares Metro 2033 Author Is Guilty

Dmitry Glukhovsky is well known in the video game world as he is the author of the books in the Metro series. The author demanded that Putin end the war, explaining that it was not a good idea for Russia to attack its neighbor. This led to him being accused of discrediting the Russian Armed Forces. This statement, which contained no comment about the armed forces, came to the fore only because it was anti-government.

“I am ready to repeat everything that is said there,” Glukhovsky said in his Telegram message. “Stop the war! Recognize that this is a war against an entire nation and stop it!”

It is also worth knowing that Dmitry Glukhovsky does not currently live in Russia.

Given the above, Dmitry Glukgovsky could face a severe prison sentence if he returns to his homeland. Although this is not the first time Russia has targeted journalists and other media outlets as opposed to the government’s position, Reuters says that Glukhovsky’s case is the biggest internationally known sample.

Russia has had a decree in March that criminalized open criticism of the Russia-Ukrainian war, including independent reporting. It was also forbidden to describe the invasion, which was called a “special military operation” for the Russian state, as a “war” or “invasion.”
